simpleshow foundation attends seminar “Achieving SDGs through Sport: Partnerships and Institutional Responses for Greater Coherence and Effectiveness.”
Sport for a better world: more than 130 representatives of international organizations, the International Olympic Committee (IOC), international sports federations (IFs), and civil society gathered in Lausanne on October, 5th 2017 in order to discuss strategies and possible forms of collaboration to implement the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through sport. simpleshow foundation would never miss the chance to contribute to this goal, so we were in attendance representing our recently established Volunteer Initiative around Agenda 2030.
The importance of sport in society was officially reaffirmed when the United Nations General Assembly adopted the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in September 2015. However, for ordinary people like us, this connection between sport and sustainable development might not be so obvious. Luckily, this is exactly where simpleshow foundation can help. Our Volunteer Initiative offers a platform for dissemination of different aspects of SDGs, including those related to sports. Plus, when you look closer at each of the goals, you’ll recognize that sports can contribute to every single goal: starting with the Goal 3: “Good Health & Well-Being” (Goal 3 is our first campaign topic by the way – find out more here: https://simpleshow-foundation.org/volunteer/), as well as through “quality education.” “gender equality,” “decent work and economic growth,” the list goes on! Here’s an excerpt from the seminar’s official press release:
“With regard to the UN and its specialized agencies, work is being carried out on the ground on a daily basis to develop policies and programs that include sport in thematic areas such as poverty, health, well-being, education, gender equality, non-discrimination, economic growth, decent work, housing and cities, and biodiversity in a context of harmonious and sustainable development.”
The Lausanne seminar brought together numerous international actors. Practical tools were made available and exchanged, new knowledge clusters were identified, and a training initiative was launched with local partners, international organizations and UN agencies. We were happy to be in attendance! (You can watch the sessions here: https://goo.gl/yb3pn6)
We are also happy to share our know-how on making basic knowledge accessible for everyone in a simple way. That’s why we decided to continue this amazing collaboration by offering a free webinar for the participants of the seminar on simple video creation with our tool – mysimpleshow (https://mysimpleshow.com/) on December 5th, 2017. Greetings from the heart of the Olympic Capital – Lausanne – and looking forward to meeting you at our webinar!
